About Our Association
The Alabama Coroners Association (ACA) was founded in 1956 in an effort to elevate the Office of Coroner in Alabama through uniformity in the handling of death investigations, improving educational and training opportunities, and by working closely with the Alabama Legislature on related legislation.
What We Do
The Alabama Coroner’s Association is committed to advancing the professionalism, integrity, and effectiveness of coroners throughout Alabama. Our mission is to cultivate a strong sense of unity and collaboration among coroners, fostering both professional and personal relationships to enhance the execution of their vital duties. We strive to elevate the standards of the Office of Coroner by promoting the adoption of cutting-edge scientific methods and best practices in medicolegal death investigations. The Association actively advocates for meaningful legislative reforms to modernize statutes governing coroners’ responsibilities, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our communities. By strengthening partnerships with law enforcement agencies, we aim to improve coordination and mutual support in the pursuit of justice. Additionally, we are dedicated to raising public awareness about the critical role coroners play, increasing understanding and appreciation of the essential services they provide to Alabama’s residents. Through education, accreditation, and advocacy, the Alabama Coroner’s Association is proud to support coroners in their mission to serve with excellence and compassion.
